North American X-15A-2
The MPM Model X-15 A2 in 1/72 scale is a very good kit, although fairly rare and hard to find.
I added some details such as fuel exhaust vents using syringes, added riveting, added fuel lines for the tanks, and scratchbuilt a little front landing gear detail. I also used aftermarket decals for the external fuel tanks, and used bare metal foil cut to size to represent the bare metal backing where stenciling was applied.
I had fun pre-shading and modulating the all "black" livery, using references as a guide. It took me a while to finish this, it seemed like there was always "one more thing" that had to be done, like a scratched pitot tube right in front of the canopy. I'm happy with the result and created a display that highlights the historical significance of this important subject.
