The original period photo that provided my inspiration to recreate it in 1/72nd scale.
The completed diorama in 1/72nd scale. The bridge and base were built out of pink foam, balsa wood, and two-part clear resin to simulate the river.
This is the setting for the FAMO with heavy artillery in tow, based on an actual photo. The base and stonework are pink insulation foam, while the bridge itself is balsa wood. I used acrylics, oils, and inks to create some random variation and contrast. The last step will be pouring some 2-part resin for the river.
What a fabulous little kit this Revell 1/72 Famo! It wasn’t the easiest to find, but eBay to the rescue. Fit is perfect, outstanding details, quick to put together and get to paint. I added the Black Dog resin detail set with the front canopy and rear stowage.
This was pure joy.
Revell’s 1/72 21cm Morser 18 is a highly detailed kit with lots of tiny parts, and despite no PE and good fit, I found it challenging. I didn’t enjoy the build so much, largely due to wasting time to look for parts, which are almost randomly numbered across several sprues. Instructions are ok, but sometimes vague.

I used AMMO 3D-printed 1/72nd scale German figures which turned out remarkably well after painting.
